My First Time: Switching to Natural Deodorant

Hey friends! I’m back today with a post that’s very summer appropriate – today I’m writing all about deodorant! Specifically, I’ll be writing about my experience switching to natural deodorant.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re loosely basing your idea of what natural deodorant is on the DIY’s you’ve seen on Pinterest or the brands from Sephora that you’ve heard won’t last you through a workout. And trust me, you’re not wrong. It took me a long time and a lot of experimentation with brands to find one that I love and one that works for me!

Let’s first talk about the reason why I wanted to stop using conventional antiperspirants in the first place – one word, aluminum. Aluminum is an ingredient in most underarm products, that clogs up your pores and hinders bacteria that feeds on sweat. Now, if you read up on what aluminum can do to your body, it’s pretty scary. One direct correlation that you’ll constantly see pop up is breast cancer. It’s kind of terrifying, but since they’re in such close proximity, the harmful effects of aluminum in antiperspirants is more than a little scary.

Why trying out different brands of deodorants, I was more than sceptical. After many failed attempts at DIY powders that I couldn’t get to stick on my skin for very long and clean beauty brands that promised you wouldn’t smell with their natural deodorants (which trust me, was far from reality), I found a brand that really worked!

One of my friends who was making the switch too was actually the one who introduced me to the brand. Native Deodorant, which specializes in both men’s and women’s underarm products, has created products that are aluminum and paraben free! Not only does it have the look and feel of standard deodorants, but it also gives you great smell-free coverage. And no – this post is not sponsored – I just genuinely am in love with this brand!

Made with shea butter, jojoba oil, beeswax, baking soda, vitamin e, vegetable preservatives, coconut oil, probiotics and a handful of other ingredients that you’ve most likely heard of before, it’s amazing how well this deodorant works. Honestly, when I was dabbling with new methods, I was super concerned when I was meeting friends for drinks or heading to a spin class, but that’s definitely not the case anymore.

If you want to try out the deodorant, I would totally suggest getting Travel Sample Pack –  the sizes of the tubes are actually a pretty good size, but they also fit into a purse or a bag perfectly! That way if you’re running around or want some extra protection before you sweat your life away this summer, you’re covered when you’re on-the-go.

If you’re looking for an aluminum-free and more natural alternative to deodorant this summer, I would definitely suggest trying this brand out. The best is that you just order it online and it ships right to your door within no time at all! Totally worth it.

With love,

  1. I feel like i’d really get on with natural deodorant because I don’t sweat much to begin with. Sometimes I even feel that I could wear nothing and be fine! I should probably make the switch since it’s better for you. I love the packaging on these!

  2. I have tried to make the switch in the past and, though the deodorants I tried smelled lovely, they simply weren’t effective enough for my liking. I am so curious to try Native Deodorant after reading your review!

  3. I absolutely must get my hands on this deodorant. I have struggled to find a natural deodorant that really works for me and these sound great!
Also, I LOVE that pillow! I have it in cream!
