My First Time: Making Quick Date Night Meals with Findus

Friends – I have become obsessed with making fish dishes ever since I started collaborating with Findus! I’ve always been a huge fan of eating fish for the health benefits (think yumminess filled with omega 3’s, vitamin D & B2, calcium, phosphorus and other minerals like zinc, iron, magnesium AND potassium!), but with the easy Steam Delicious range fish packages, preparing fish has never been simpler.

Since my love of fish has now been invigorated and I wanted to share that fondness with my partner, I thought I would share a couple quick date night recipes with you! For both of these meals, I used the delectable Steam Delicious Cod with lemon parsley butter. Here are two speedy meals you can make on any date night that would be sure to impress your partner.

The Wow-Your-Date Meal Option: Healthy Fish and Chips

This recipe is a great alternative to a classic fish and chips meal (bonus points for this dish since it’s definitely on the healthier side too).

Step One:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven is warming up, chop potatoes into quarters. Line an oven tray with a baking sheet and place potatoes on to half of the sheet. Lightly pour some olive oil on top of the potatoes and sprinkle with some salt and pepper to taste.

Step Two:

Place the two packages of Steam Delicious fish onto the other half of the tray and put both the potatoes and fish into the oven. Make sure you leave the plastic packaging on the fish, as the steam that’s created within the packaging will cook the fish evenly. Set a timer for 25-30 minutes.

Step Three:

Get ready for your date! Do you hair, take a shower, set the table and wait till the timer goes off. Once the fish and potatoes are ready, simply cut one end of the fish packaging and slide the fish out. Don’t forget to pour the rest of the seasoning onto the fish (after all, it’s the best part).

Step Four:

Time to plate your meal. On each dish, you have one Steam Delicious fish, a hefty share of potatoes and red cabbage with some vinegar as a modern coleslaw. Voila!

The Fun-Date-Night Dish: Fish Tacos

Looking for a fun date-night meal option, that you can make at home (and without breaking the bank)? Try making these colourful fish tacos that are deliciously appetizing!

Step One:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an oven tray with a baking sheet and place the two packages of Steam Delicious fish onto the tray. Like before, you want to keep them in their packaging for an optimal cooking experience. Set a timer for 25-30 minutes.

Step Two:

Prep your veggies while your fish is cooking. To be honest, all you need to do is chop up some tomatoes and lemons for garnish and you’re pretty set. You can also lay out your taco toppings in a fun way that is sure to keep your guest entertained. I decided to stuff my tacos with spinach, red cabbage and heirloom tomatoes. You don’t need to worry about adding any extra dressing to the mix, since the sauce that comes on the Steam Delicious fish is quite flavourful and savoury.

Step Three:

Once your fish is done, simply cut one end of the fish packaging and slide the fish out. Pour seasoning over fish and break up the fish with a fork and knife (so it’s easier to put into the taco, of course!) The best part about the Steam Delicious fish is that there’s enough fish in each portion to make 4 – 5 mini tacos so you and your date will be delightfully stuffed!

I had so much fun making both of these meals and my boyfriend loved taste-testing them. If you’d prefer one meal and your date would like the other, why not have one of each? It’s so quick and easy to make these Steam Delicious fish meals that you can totally prepare both (with lots of time to get ready for your special night).

  1. I love eating fish when I’m on holiday and really need to eat more in my everyday diet. I read somewhere that fish oils are lacking in Brits diets’ as people do not eat enough or have supplements like cod liver oil these days – it’s so good for you! Thanks for sharing, I will check this brand out.
